Very importantly, we wish to clarify that brother Oronto
Douglas is not asking us for financial assistance to defray the cost of his
medical care. Furthermore, we expect the Federal Government of Nigeria and the
Bayelsa State Government to take up the full responsibility for paying all the
costs of brother Oronto Douglas' medical care. The Oronto Douglas
Fund is therefore simply our means of expressing our love and concern
for the health and welfare of our dear brother, who has been a foremost
environmentalist and champion of our Ijaw/Niger Delta Struggle! Understandably,
the Oronto Douglas Fund will provide our dear brother with
emergency funding whenever the need arises during the course of his medical care
in the United States.
We thank all of us
for the overflow of love for our dear brother in need. We are indeed our
brothers' keepers! No amount is too small. Please donate cheerfully for the LORD
loves a cheerful giver!
We pray God's rich blessings upon each of us as we donate with brotherly
love, in the spirit of generosity.
