Very importantly, we wish to clarify that brother Oronto Douglas is not asking us for financial assistance to defray the cost of his medical care. Furthermore, we expect the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Bayelsa State Government to take up the full responsibility for paying all the costs of brother Oronto Douglas' medical care. The Oronto Douglas Fund is therefore simply our means of expressing our love and concern for the health and welfare of our dear brother, who has been a foremost environmentalist and champion of our Ijaw/Niger Delta Struggle! Understandably, the Oronto Douglas Fund will provide our dear brother with emergency funding whenever the need arises during the course of his medical care in the United States.

We thank all of us for the overflow of love for our dear brother in need. We are indeed our brothers' keepers! No amount is too small. Please donate cheerfully for the LORD loves a cheerful giver!

We pray God's rich blessings upon each of us as we donate with brotherly love, in the spirit of generosity.

CALL FOR GENEROUS DONATIONS

Millions and billions of dollars are needed to provide humanitarian and social assistance to the Ijaws to alleviate their abject poverty, provide them basic social amenities, clean up their severely destroyed habitat and regenerate and restore the productivity of their farmlands and fisheries to provide them sustenance. All the needed funds cannot be realized in one fell swoop and all the humanitarian projects cannot be executed immediately. However, since a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step, the hopes of the utterly impoverished Ijaws can be fulfilled incrementally in geometric progression through committed continuous donation of funds, sincerity of purpose and concerted action by all Ijaws, governmental and non-governmental agencies, international agencies and philanthropists worldwide.

Accordingly, Ijaw Foundation hereby makes a clarion call and a fervent appeal to all Ijaws, philanthropists, governmental and non-governmental agencies, international agencies and the general public to give generous donations to fund its charitable projects to alleviate the abject poverty and desperate humanitarian needs of the oil-rich Ijaws of the Niger Delta.

Kindly make your generous donations by means of secure PayPal Electronic Payment mechanism or forward your check or money order, made payable to Ijaw Foundation, to:

Ijaw Foundation
